Have you ever noticed feeling uncomfortable – or even a little embarrassed – when trying something new, even though you know it’s good for you?
I’ve noticed this feeling in myself recently.
At first, I wanted the discomfort to disappear. Then I realised it wasn’t necessarily telling me to stop. It was reminding me that I was doing something I’d never done before.
Sometimes our minds encourage us to stay with what’s familiar because familiar feels safe. That doesn’t always mean the familiar is helping us grow.
Not everyone will understand the changes you’re making, and that’s okay. The important thing is that you’ve taken the time to understand why they matter to you.
When we choose to make a meaningful change, we’ve usually spent time thinking about why it matters to us.
With practice, what once felt uncomfortable often begins to feel familiar. What felt awkward becomes part of our everyday lives.
And when we make positive changes for ourselves, the benefits often ripple out to the people around us as well.
Perhaps discomfort isn’t always a sign that you’re on the wrong path.
Sometimes…It might simply be a sign that you’re becoming familiar with a new one.
