Even Work You Love Needs an Ending

When we think about bringing work home, we usually picture stress.

Deadlines. Pressure. A difficult meeting.

But that’s only part of the story.

Sometimes work follows us home because we enjoy it. We like solving the problem. We care about the people. We’re invested in what we’re building.

There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s something to be grateful for.

So the question isn’t whether work is good or bad.

The question is quieter than that… can you love your work without letting it occupy every part of your life?

When it’s only you, the evening can unfold however you like.

But when someone’s waiting for you… a partner, a child, an ageing parent, anyone who depends on you… your arrival matters. Not because you have to be perfect. Because your presence becomes part of their evening too.

Loving your work is a wonderful thing. Loving your home is too.

Maybe the kindest thing you can do for both is let each one have its own time.

Work will still be there tomorrow. This evening only happens once.

Loving one part of your life doesn’t mean neglecting another.

So as you arrive home today, just notice. One gentle question, no judgement…

“Am I still at work? Or have I arrived?”

I made something small for exactly this moment.

A Micro-Reset wallpaper for your phone. A prompt that gives you a pause between the trigger and the reaction, right in the middle of your real life. Not a course. Nothing to keep up with. No promise you’ll feel calm.

I’m giving one away free to real mothers right now.

The wallpaper doesn’t do the work. You do. But it’ll help you notice sooner.

Learn as you live.
